Leila Deeley and Tippi Morgan adding the expertly crafted details of this tune on the lead guitar and bass, which takes this song to the next level of great. “The rather depressing nightlife of places such as Ibiza” and “the atmosphere when going to the buffet” is what inspired this song, says Chloe, who added that she has enjoyed many of these holidays over the years and “they are bizarre”.Ĭhaos rains down toward the end of the song, with drummer Annabel Whittle injecting the energy we need to dance but in a drum style unique to any other band going. Surf N Turf explodes with enthusiasm and energetic vocals, where as toad men spews mumbled vocals and groans from lead singer Chloe Howard, as well as half-arsed apologies littered in the background: a performance rife with attitude.

safe vibes new music crack cloud meat machine music review single review punk post punk collective what is this drum solo This song is perfect for if you want to to go on that first quarantine run, or piss off your mum who you’re in lockdown with. With bass and guitars that jab you in the sides but suddenly and unexpectedly, sort of like walking through a swarm of flies that you didn’t see congregating there in front of you. Ouster Stew: it opens with a synth line that sets the tone for the song. I’d love to know whose idea it was to have a smack of piano keys falling through the song to introduce the new section at 0:50. You can’t question why they do the things they do, you just have to sit back and marvel at its genius. With Crack Cloud, you’re just along for the ride.

Not many songs can break out into a rad drum solo and get away with it. That, along with the layered melodic lines in the guitars make this a real foot tapper. The chanting rhythmic vocals remind me of some Talking Heads song but with more of a panicked vocal twang. Their new single Ouster Stew is so good, however, that is has opened my eyes to their greatness.
